HB376 in Senate Indian Cultural Affairs Committee

From the Center on Law and Poverty:

Good morning, Everyone:
The bill is moving along and will be heard by the Senate Indian and Cultural Affairs Committee (ICAC) tomorrow morning.  Attached is a list of committee members for the ICAC.  Please contact everyone of these committee members today to demonstrate our strong support for the bill.  Emails work as well as phone calls especially now when the legislators are so busy as the session enters its final days.  The exception to this statement is contacts from tribal leaders.  These legislators should know that you stand strongly behind this legislation because of its importance to your people.  As in previous hearings, it is important that as many of us show up as possible.  The hearing is in Room 303.

Just got word that 8:00am is not absolute right now but we still need to make the contacts with committee members today.  The moment I have confirmation on time, I’ll let you know.

What has been learned is that the bill will also be heard in the Senate Judiciary Committee (SJC) and the Senate Finance Committee (SFC).  The odds are tightening as we move into the last days and the administration and its supporters are wielding their power.  This requires our extra effort.  I don’t know the dates of the next two hearings but will learn tomorrow when I’m at the Roundhouse and let you know right away.  Members of these two committees, the counties they represent and their contact information are also on the attachment.

We can have another victory in the Senate.  All it takes is our dedicated work and attention to cause.
Best regards,

Evelyn Blanchard
