NM CLP Analysis for HB 376 for House Judicairy Committee

Dear Governors and Presidents:
Attached is the analysis requested by Regis Pecos following the hearing on the above bill before the House Health Government and Indian Affairs Committee last Thursday.  As instructed the analysis has been developed in collaboration with Maxine Velasquez, General Counsel, Pueblo of Tesuque, Francine Jaramillo, analyst in Regis’ office and tribal health department personnel from various pueblos.  We hope that it will be helpful to you as you prepare for the hearing before the Judiciary Committee which is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 20th at 1:30pm in Room 309 of the Roundhouse.   I apologize that this is such  short notice regarding the hearing but as you are all aware that is  out of our control.  There are members on the Judiciary Committee who will be more difficult to convince this round, e.g. McMillan, Fajardo, but our position is right and the analysis backs it up.  Look forward to your presence at the committee hearing to once again show our strength and unity.
Best regards,
